Mercedes E Class Estate Now On Sale
Merc’s new E Class has received a lukewarm reaction so far, but now the super-practical wagon version has gone on sale to make more sense of the E’s functional design.

The big selling point of the new Mercedes E Class Estate is that it’s massive. It has the biggest load capacity in its class, meaning you can fit an object that measures 172.5cm x 100cm x 62cm into its cavernous rear – perfect for David Dickinson types.
Loading has never been easier
The big Merc comes with the oddly named Easy-Pack electronic tailgate, which not only allows you to remotely operate the boot with the key fob, but it also fold the load compartment cover out of the way too, making it a doddle to stash your stuff.
Need more space?
The rear seats have been designed to need just one finger to fold them, making 1,950 litres of space. In addition to this a further 112 litres of load space can be found in the Easy-Pack folding load compartment under the load space floor.
Self-levelling air suspension comes as standard to ensure that ride and handling don’t go all floppy when you’ve got a big load on board.
Engines and prices
There are three diesel and four petrol units to choose from, with most boasting fuel-sipping BlueEFFICIENCY measures. Prices for the petrol version start at £29,785, while the cheapest diesel is £30,395.
The range topper is the shouty AMG E63 which costs a whopping £73,855, which isn’t very green. And if you’re a greeny, you’ll want to wait for the E350 BlueTEC. Merc reckons it’s the world’s cleanest diesel engine and it’s available from June.
